We have just received word that we were one of the recipients of that grant, and we now have $5000 to get our project up and running. We our very excited and we can’t wait to begin improving the entrance into our school. If you recall, Riley Faris and Loryn Miller were selected as our Apprentice team, so we will be getting them involved in overseeing the project. It is always good to share good news with our stakeholders as we continue to strive to make North Mesa the best school it can be.

Like all schools, we struggle with the decision of implementing a dress code for our students. The District has an official Board adopted dress code, but some schools have chosen to take that dress code one step further and implement a plan for uniform dress. We would like your ideas and opinions on this subject and we have a survey that you can fill out on our website. If you are reading this, I know that you probably have already seen the link. Please fill it out and help us make the best decision concerning North Mesa and its stakeholders. Please tell others about our survey, so they too, can be apart of our decision making process. Thank you.

Whenever there is the possibility of closing schools, it adds a little uncertainty to all of our lives. The District notifies the media outlets as soon a decision is made, and the media outlets are very good about getting that information out. One thing we need to remember, there are several occasions when they will cancel school in the mountain areas, and have all other schools remain open. Sometimes when the media reports this, it can be confusing. I have found that the crawler on Channel 5 and Channel 11 are the most accurate and up to date. Also, when there is the possibility of a closure, please tune in to a media outlet. The schools have the same information that they do, and by calling the schools, you are requesting information that is readily available through a variety of sources
Every year it is a delight to see the faces of our third graders as they receive this most generous gift. We would like to thank all those involved especially, Mr. Jon Thatcher for taking time out of his busy schedule to pick up and deliver the dictionaries to our kids
If you are missing a jacket, coat, hoodie or lunch box, please come by and look in our “Lost and Found” at Room 106. This time of year, we never know what the weather will be like, so it is very important that your child brings a coat with them on a daily basis. The trick is, getting that jacket home when the temperature is in the mid 70’s by lunchtime. We will keep collecting lost and found items, but please come by and claim what is yours. Hopefully, what is lost will find its way home.
