5th Grade Bake Sale

5th Grade Bake Sale
The 5th grade is hosting the bake sale at the Mardi Gras Festival on February 7, 2008. Each 5th grader is being asked to bring at least 2 baked goods to sell. The baked goods should be brought to school on the 7th and put in room 106. All proceeds go towards the 5th grade graduation and field trip.

We are in need of pictures for the slide show for the 5th grade graduation. Please have your student bring baby pictures and/or group pictures from his/her school years. Please include the student's name on the back of the photo. Thanks

Here are a few dates to think about:

The field trip to Camanche will be rescheduled. I will let you know as soon as I know when.

Jan. 15th - 5th Grade D.A.R.E. Graduation-6:30 @ North Mesa
Jan. 18th - Literacy Testing-No school for students
Jan. 21st - Conferences-No school for students
March 3-March 20 CSAP testing window
      March 3-5     Math-a.m.   Science p.m.
      March 6        Reading/Writing a.m.
      March 10-14  Reading/Writing a.m.
      March 17-19 Make-up dates
      There WILL be an extra incentive for students in attendance on all testing days!
March 7th - Early dismissal/end of 3rd 9 weeks
March 21st - Conferences
March 24-28 - Spring Break
April 3rd - 4th grade music program
May 1st - 5th grade music program
May 5-6 - Literacy testing
May 7th - North Mesa Science Fair

November 7- The authors Dave and Pat Sargent will be at the school for a presentation. The students will have the opportunity to purchase their books and have them signed.

November 15- we will be having a Pueblo Chemical Depot presentation here at NME.

November 19-November 23 is Thanksgiving break.

December 11- We will be going to the Xcel Comanche Power Plant for a field trip. I will also be teaching a short unit on renewable energy.

December 21-January 7 is Winter vacation.

March 3 -March 21, 2008 is the CSAP testing window. I know this seems a long time away, but we constantly think about it. With such a small window to complete the four assessments (reading, writing, math, and science), it is crucial that your student be in attendance.

The 5th grade will be going on an educational field trip to the Pueblo Zoo on Thursday, October 18 from 9:00-2:30. Transportation cost is $1.50 per child. We will be looking at the exhibits, as well as getting a behind the scene look at parts of the zoo.
